• Smile it's your Birthday!

Here is another simple birthday card using only three sheets from the "Let's Party" 6x6 paper pad by Simple stories. I used two identical papers from this pack, using one to cut up and mount on the other. I love 6"x6" paper pads, since it's so easy to make a card with just one or two sheets, and you don't really have to struggle with color matching, as the papers are already coordinated to match each other.

E-LE-VA-TION! WOOOOUUUHOOOO

With a busy pattern going on, I wanted some elements to stand out, so I figured lets elevate them up. I cut out the parts I liked and glued them on a foam sheet, then fussy cut them out. Then I defined the edges and darkened the foam sheet with some Distress Ink Frayed Burlap using a mini blending tool.

Once I was done, I stuck each piece on to the identical sheet with some Ranger Multi Medium Matte, then mounted the sheet on a striped background, from the same paper pad. I bunched up some golden thread and glued it on the back of the panel before I glued it on to the card base. Easy-peasy!

Some shine please!

I couldn't really capture the shine and dimension on the card that well with my phone camera, but it's there! Using my go-to shimmer, Wink of Stella, I added some shimmer to the candles, the camera lens, and the party hats. Once that was dried, I add some Ranger Glossy Accents to some parts of the camera for extra dimension.

Hmmm could have, maybe?

While I was defining the pieces I had cut out, I noticed that the edges were all wrinkled up. You can see this clearly in the pictures below. In hindsight, I think what I should have done to avoid that, was to fussy cut every thing and then trace them all out on foam paper. Then fussy cut the foam paper, and then stick the paper pieces on to the cut out foam paper. A longer method, but I think that would give me a cleaner finish, oh well, next time!
