• Oh Happy Day!

Continuing our journey with birthday cards, I decided to get out of my comfort zone (i.e. the color gold... LOL!). Using a 6x6 paper pack from my stash, I picked out the most appealing floral patterned paper, and kept that as the focal background. I offset that by selecting a more muted but complimenting background paper from the same pack.

Let The Gold Shine...

So since my main goal was to incorporate various elements of gold, I chose to include this beautiful glitter infused ribbon I had picked up a few days prior.

After selecting the patterned papers, I selected the cream card stock from American Crafts for the side folding base of the card, and black card stock for matting the inner piece. I added a sentiment to a die cut frame and embossed it in gold, adding it over the gold ribbon (admittedly, it would have added more oomph had it gone over the entirety of the background paper).

Lastly, I finished off the front of the card by adding golden gemstones around the die cut to add that extra bit of bling!

Unfortunately, I forgot to take shots of the sentiment I stamped on the inside. You can check it out in the video on our YouTube channel here.

Going Back to My Roots...

And how could I not slide back into my comfort zone??! I decided to try and work this pattern around with a different color palette using a black card stock as base for the card. In contrast to the previous card, I decided to pick a lighter shade of card stock in pink and darkened the edges to have it stand against the larger patterned paper.

To continue down the dark path, I die cut the sentiment in black shimmer paper and added some sturdiness by adding a few layers of the same die cut in plain black card stock. I added a strip of vellum behind the sentiment to let it stand out from the busy background.
